Radioactivity measurement - First hike of the year

Measurement done during the first hike of the year in the Flatside Wilderness area (AR).

We have a tradition, every year we try to hike as soon as possible and this become the "first hike of the year", an excuse to say "Happy New Year" to everybody from nature.

The tradition goes back to early 2000 and so far only once we didn't have it.
This year we were able to resume the tradition and January 13 2019 we had our first hike of the year.
We went in the Flatside wilderness area, going  on and off the Ouachita trail and stopping for lunch and some rest at the Brown Creek shelter.
Here more or less what we did :

Anyway, of course I did bring with me the fido counter.

On average quite low readings with some minimum around 5 CPM !
And the top count was around 35 at the beginning !
